Dehesa de la Sabina

Andalusia, Spain

In 2012, realising they were all facing similar issues with their land, eight neighbouring farmers decided to join forces, and together switched to fully organic and biodynamic methods of farming. Since then, there has been no looking back, as the new methods yielded improvement in all aspects of their domain: water retention, olive tree health, quality of yields. The stories of the very carefully thought-of processes they have been implementing, year after year, to continually improve their environmental stewardship are the kind of tale that spur farming vocations in schools. From fighting desertification through mulching and improving the roots’ network, to completing the entire olive grove’s food chain with the return of the owls, the wonderful stories are endless. We wish Dehesa de la Sabina to continue spreading the gospel around in Andalusia and beyond, and are thrilled to bring you their expression of this wonderful Spanish olive variety: the Picual variety.
